OPTIONAL: For TUE SEPT 16 : I FORGOT TO POST THIS TOPIC EARLIER -- MY APOLOGIES

For TUE SEPT 16
Who is the audience of the cartoons, videos and the movie?
Whom are these TEXTS produced for? What is their goal? To please? To indulge? To convince? To scare? To warn and alert? To hurt? To help? To make money?

1) YOUR OPINION, please, in your comment.

2) After at least 15 students left their comments, return to the blog and leave a reply to one or more comments YOU DISAGREE with. (I count on you being able to disagree in an intelligent, calm, respectful tone.)

  1. I think the audience for the videos and cartoons could be for both outsiders and Italians. It would be as an eye opener to the outsiders on some of the struggles Italians faced both in Italy and in America. It would also let the Italian Americans know that people recognize their problems and that change isn't too far away

  2. I think these cartoons and videos are created for the people they reference (i.e. Italian Americans) They contain so much of a personal touch to the Italian American experience and I think the creators design them to connect to people of their own tribe. It's similar to African American literature and films that address the slavery experience in both raw and fictional ways. I believe they're designed for everyone's viewing to expand knowledge but mostly to give insight and connect to the tribe it's reflecting on.
